Vietnam posts lower CPI first 11 months

Vietnam is estimated to see consumer price index (CPI) of 6.4 percent in the first 11 months of this year, compared with 7.6 percent in the same period last month, according to the country's General Statistics Office on Friday.

CPI in November is estimated at 0.6 percent. Among 10 commodities and services used in calculating CPI, index of prices used to measure the change in the cost of basic goods and services in comparison with a fixed base period, food and foodstuff respectively see price hikes of 3.8 percent and 0.5 percent this month.

Meanwhile, cost of postal and transport services is estimated to decrease 0.49 percent due to the decline of 1.77 percent in the prices of petroleum products, and price of construction materials is set to decrease 0.18 percent.

The country, which recorded CPI of 8.4 percent last year, is set to see the index of below seven percent this year, said the office.
