The remains of late Philippine Star publisher and journalist Maximo Soliven was brought on Tuesday by his family to the military headquarters in Metro Manila, Camp Aguinaldo, for a three-day wake.
Soliven's widow Preciosa Soliven arrived at a chapel with the urn containing the ashes of her husband and was welcomed by a number of military officers.
Widely seen as the most famous journalist of the country, Soliven died of cardiac arrest at the age of 77 in Japan last Friday, following a bout with pneumonia.
The box-shaped urn of Soliven a World War II veteran, was placed on a table at the foot of steps leading to the altar. The urn was flanked by two honor guards from the military.
Soliven is set to be buried at the Hero's Cemetery in Fort Bonifacio, Pasig City, on Friday.
