A U.S. soldier was killed in Iraq's western province of Anbar, bringing the number of U.S. soldiers announced killed on Wednesday to three, the U.S. military said.

One U.S. soldier, assigned to Regimental Combat Team 7, died Wednesday from wounds sustained due to "enemy action" while operating in Anbar province, the military said in a statement.

In separate statement, the military said that a soldier "was killed when an improvised explosive device exploded near his vehicle while conducting operations in Salah ad Din Province Tuesday".

Earlier on Wednesday, the U.S.military also said that one Marine assigned to 1st Brigade, 1st Armored Division died Nov. 27 from wounds sustained due to enemy action while operating in the Anbar province.

Since the U.S.-led war in Iraq broke out in March 2003, over 2, 880 U.S. soldiers have been killed, according to media count.
