Visiting Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haneya Wednesday called on here the international community to pressurize Israel to force it accept an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders.

Haneya made the call at a joint press conference with Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa following their meeting earlier in the day.

He said that an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders is the joint stand of both Palestinians and Arab people, calling on all regional and international parties concerned to press Israel for accepting.

As for the peace process in Middle East, Haneya said, "the Palestinian people are now bored with the Mideast peace process ' roadmap'," paralleling it to a patient who has been sent into " Intensive Care Unit".

On the issue of forming a Palestinian national unity government, Haneya denied the reports that the Palestinian internal dialogue over the unity government has reached an impasse, saying, in stead, that a remarkable progress has been achieved in the dialogue.

He further disclosed that Palestinian factions participating the dialogue have agreed the contour of the proposed government, saying that "such a government can be seen at the moment we wrap up our internal dialogue".

The prime minister also voiced hope for reaching of a prisoners ' swap deal, which involved about 1,700 Palestinian prisoners jailed in Israel and an Israeli soldier who has been held hostage by Palestinian militant groups since his abduction in this June.

He said that the negotiations on this matter are still ongoing but there is hope that the Palestinian prisoners will be released soon.

Before Haneya's meeting with Moussa, he also met with Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul Gheit earlier Wednesday to discuss the latest developments on the Palestinian arena.

Haneya arrived in Egypt late Tuesday via the Rafah terminal crossing on Gaza-Egypt borders to kick off his seven-nation regional tour that will also take him to Lebanon, Syria, Iran, Kuwait, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

The tour, Haneya's first trip abroad since he took office in March, aims to promote ties between the Palestinian government and the above countries as well as garner support for the Palestinian people.
