Sudan calls on Israel to abide by truce with Palestinians
font size

The Sudanese government on Wednesday urged Israel to commit itself to the truce reached on Sunday with the Palestinian factions, following a five-month-old Israeli military offensive in Gaza.

In a press statement, the Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that the just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East could not be realized without full withdrawal of the Jewish state from the Arab lands, which were occupied in 1967, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state in accordance with the international resolutions and the principle of land-for- peace.

The statement also underlined the necessity of the unity of the Palestinian people, stressing that "the unity is the sole guarantee to protect their established and legitimate rights, and enabling them to confront the challenges posing in the current stage."
