China will consult with other parties on the resumption date of six-party talks on the Korean Peninsula nuclear issue, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu said in Beijing on Thursday.
Chief negotiators of China, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and the United States held bilateral and trilateral talks in Beijing on Tuesday and Wednesday, agreeing to resume the six-party talks as soon as possible.
Jiang said the talks were helpful to increase mutual understanding.
"We hope all parties can seize the opportunity and take positive action for the early resumption and progress of the six-party talks," she added.
The talks, involving China, the DPRK, the Republic of Korea (ROK), Japan, Russia and the United States, have been stalled since November last year when the DPRK refused to return to the talks in protest at U.S. sanctions.
The chief negotiators of the DPRK, the United States, the ROK and Japan have visited Beijing to prepare for the resumption of the nuclear disarmament talks.
