BitTorrent signs with major content providers
font size

In an effort to shed its reputation as a tool for piracy, streaming software service BitTorrent announced recently it has signed deals with several movie studios and content producers, according to Today @ PC World.

BitTorrent's website will feature for sale or rent offerings from News Corp.'s 20th Century Fox, Lionsgate Entertainment, Viacom's MTV Networks, Starz Media and Kadokawa Group Holdings' Kadokawa Pictures USA.

All TV shows will be available only for sale, not rental viewing, BitTorrent said.

With BitTorrent's downloading software, users can transmit large files at high speeds. Many seized on the capability to illicitly transfer large video and audio files (often copyrighted), but the company now has agreements with many major movie producers to make their products available legitimately.
