font size

Unknown gunmen attacked a police checkpoint outside a hospital in western Baghdad on Saturday, killing a policeman and wounding another, an Interior Ministry source said.

"Unknown gunmen opened fire from machine-guns on policemen manning a mobile checkpoint near the Yarmouk Hospital, killing one of them and wounding another," the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

On Tuesday, two car bombs went off near the hospital killing four people and wounding some 40 others.

Violence sweeps Iraqi cities as insurgent attacks, sectarian killings, car bombings, roadside bombs claim dozens of Iraqi lives daily.
