China's top legislator Wu Bangguo met with Donald Tsang, chief executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) in Hong Kong on Saturday.
After hearing Tsang's report on the recent situation of Hong Kong, Wu, chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee, said that the central government is concerned about the situation and people of Hong Kong.
At present, Hong Kong enjoys social stability, economic growth and improvement of people's livelihood, a situation which has not been easily come by, he said.
Wu said he hoped the HKSAR government and people of all walks of life will continue their efforts to further develop economy and promote harmony to push forward all causes of Hong Kong.
Present at the meeting was Liao Hui, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and director of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council.
