Visiting Arab League (AL) Secretary General Amr Moussa urged in Beirut Monday for dialogues to settle the Lebanese crisis, saying he had raised some suggestions that could form a basis in this regard.

In an interview with Lebanese daily As-Safir, Moussa said he carried no specific initiative but had some ideas that could help solve the crisis, adding that he would listen to views of all parties about the current political stalemate in Lebanon.

The AL chief called on all Lebanese political leaders to offer concessions for the sake of ensuring stability of their country.

The Cairo-based AL chief's visit to Lebanon came amid a deep political crisis which prompted the Lebanese opposition led by Hezbollah party to hold an open-ended protest since Friday, calling on the Prime Minister Fouad Seniora government to resign to be replaced by a new national unity one.

Moussa arrived here on Sunday and held a series of meetings with Lebanese leaders including Seniora, President Emile Lahoud and parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, as well as leaders of rival political parties.

After meeting Lahoud, Moussa expressed hope for settling the crisis, adding that "no one can leave Lebanon liable to division."

The Arab countries would never stand by watching Lebanon being exposed to a worse situation, the AL chief said.
