Egypt's senior educational officials Monday signed with the world leading search engine company Google an agreement, under which some 11 million Egyptian students will benefit from a host of internet applications offered by the company.

Egypt's official news agency MENA reported that the agreement with Google was cosigned by Egyptian Higher Education Minister Hani Hillal and Education Minister Youssry al-Gamal.

According to the agreement, via Google search, three million Egyptian university students and eight million school students will be able to build a web page with two gega capacity in the educational, training and communications domains and access to the voice chat program.

In a statement issued after the signing of the agreement with Google, Hillal said that the agreement would open a new door to help students develop scientific research in Egypt.

This is part of the Egyptian initiative of education to improve the educational process via the use of hi-tech, which was sponsored by Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak's wife Suzanne Mubarak, according to the minister.

Google is widely regarded as the world's biggest search engine which pledges to "organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful."
