A spokesman for Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed to Xinhua on Wednesday afternoon that the IDF had opened fire at Palestinians in two separate incidents in northern Gaza Strip and wounded two.
The spokesman said that in the two incidents, the IDF spotted Palestinians approaching the security fence and conducting suspicious activities.
The IDF shot to the air to warn the Palestinians but failed to stop them, and then shot at legs of the Palestinians, said the spokesman, adding that the IDF did not enter the strip.
Israeli Security Cabinet voted on Sunday to maintain a policy of restraint in the strip, despite Palestinian militants' continuous rocket attacks since a ceasefire took effect on Nov. 26.
