Lebanese PM calls for national dialogue
font size

Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Seniora on Wednesday called for national dialogue to solve the current political deadlock in the country, saying that street demonstrations would not bring about any solution, Future TV reported.

"There is no solution other than through national reconciliation and dialogue," Seniora told supporters in front of his office and the secretary-general of the Higher Defense Council.

The cabinet was "where decisions are made not where political debates and arguments take place," he said, adding that street demonstrations would not bridge the gap separating his government from the opposition.

Lebanese opposition supporters have been staging an open-ended sit-in for the sixth day in Beirut in a bid to topple Seniora's government and form a national unity cabinet.
