China supports exchanges with foreign trade unions

China has supported the exchanges between the All-China Federation of Trade Unions (ACFTU) and the foreign trade unions, said Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress Wu Bangguo on Wednesday.

Wu made the remarks when meeting with the leaders from the foreign trade unions who attended the 2006 International Forum on Economic Globalization and Trade Unions.

Wu hailed the successful conclusion of the forum, saying it promoted cooperation between Chinese and foreign trade unions and enhance understanding and friendship.

The leaders from the foreign trade unions expressed the hope to learn from China in building up harmonious society so as to deal with the challenges of the globalization.

The forum opened Monday in Beijing. Leaders of some international and regional trade unions including the World Federation of Trade Unions, the Organization of African Trade Union Unity and the International Confederation of Arab Trade Unions attended the forum.
