Vietnam will keep on reinforcing multifaceted cooperation frameworks with other countries and integrating into international and regional economies next year, a government spokesman said on Thursday.
At a regular press briefing, Foreign Ministry spokesman Le Dung said "Vietnam will continue to consolidate and perfect multi- faceted cooperation frameworks with other countries, especially neighbor countries, power countries and important partners, creating new changes in the cooperative ties in a deep, stable and sustainable manner."
In 2007, Vietnam will also actively integrate more deeply and fully into international, regional and bilateral economic institutions, overcome challenges posed by its entry into the World Trade Organization, and fulfill commitments made with other countries in terms of trade, investment and market opening-up, he said.
Meanwhile, Vietnam will strengthen the construction of a more favorable legal environment for external economic activities and promote attraction of investment and development assistance, expansion of export markets and economic diplomacy, he said.
The spokesman said that next year, Vietnam will reinforce border lines of peace, cooperation and development with neighboring countries and create a favorable environment for national construction and defense.
The country will also "intensify activities in multilateral forums in the region and the world, actively participate in solving global issues, enhance Vietnam's role and status in the international arena, and actively look forward to becoming a non- permanent member of the United Nations Security Council in the 2008-2009 term," the spokesman said.
