After singing the song of "Our hearts never apart", over 1,200 delegates bid farewell as the Overseas Chinese World Conference for Promoting Peaceful Reunification of China concluded Friday, encouraging each other to strive for the great undertaking of China's peaceful reunification.

On the eve of the seventh anniversary of Macao's return to China, the delegates of overseas Chinese pro-reunification organizations from some 50 countries and regions gathered here to see Macao's successful practice of the principle of "One Country, Two Systems", discuss how to promote peaceful development across the Taiwan Straits, and adopt the Macao Declaration.

The two-day event, the first of its like held in China after Bangkok, Berlin, Moscow, Sydney, Tokyo, Vienna and Washington, once again manifested all the Chinese compatriots' strong aspiration for an early reunification of the motherland and resolute opposition against Taiwan-independence activities by any means.

During the two days, the conference held different seminars, discussing cross-Straits relations on politics, economy and culture.

Seminar participants agreed that over the past year, global anti-Taiwan independence activities have been carried out actively. Overseas Chinese pro-reunification organizations have done a great deal of creative work in pushing forward the movement.

Xu Shiquan, a leading cross-Straits relations researcher, said participants to the Cross-Straits Relations Seminar held the history of Taiwan has proved that Taiwan's greatest security interests lie in cross-Straits peace, its greatest economic interests in cross-Straits business and trade, its greatest political interests in peaceful reunification.

Chan Cheng, president of China Reunification Society in U.K., said participants to the Overseas Chinese Pro-reunification Organizations Affairs Seminar held that utmost efforts should be exerted to fight against Taiwan authorities' pursuit of the "legalization" of "Taiwan independence" through the "Constitutional reform".

He said the seminar called on all the overseas Chinese pro-reunification organizations to unite more people worldwide to back up China's bid for the reunification.

The Macao Declaration, adopted in long applause, says peace, development and mutual prosperity are the common aspiration of the compatriots across the Taiwan Straits.

It points out that the implementation of the principle of "One Country, Two Systems" has been proved successful in Hong Kong and Macao, and will further display its vitality in the great undertaking of China's complete reunification.

It urges all the Chinese compatriots worldwide to unite as always in fighting against secessionist forces' any attempt to separate Taiwan from China.
