China's top advisor Jia Qinglin stressed the importance of research into political consultation theory in Beijing on Wednesday.
Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), made the remarks at the inauguration ceremony of the Chinese Institute of Political Consultation Theory Research.
He said research into the theory of political consultation, guided by Mao Zedong Thought, Deng Xiaoping Theory and the "Three Represents", should be scientifically conducted to push forward the development of the CPPCC.
The CPPCC, under the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC), features multi-party cooperation and socialist democracy, said Jia, who is also a member of the Standing Committee of the Central Committee Political Bureau of the CPC.
Jia said current political consultation theory, which is based on Marxism-Leninism, has played an indispensable role in the country's political life and should be strengthened to promote socialist political democracy in China.
