Two people were killed and two others wounded when a car bomb went off at a Baghdad southwestern neighborhood on Thursday, a well-informed police source said.
"An explosive-laden car detonated at the al-Amil neighborhood at about 1:00 p.m. (1000 GMT), killing two civilians and wounding two others," the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
Earlier, 10 people were killed and 15 others wounded when a suicide bomber blew himself up among a crowd of police recruits queuing to sign up to join Iraqi police at a checkpoint set up at an entrance of the Iraqi police academy, the police said.
Daily deadly attacks against Iraqi security forces shape one of major setbacks toward the U.S. and Iraqi hopes of transferring security control to Iraqi authorities and allowing U.S. troops to go home.
