Ecuador soccer manager calls up three new playersLuis Fernando Suarez, the manager of Ecuador's national soccer team, on Wednesday called up three new players for the national team for the Dec. 28 and Dec. 30 games against Spanish regional teams from Galicia and Murcia respectively. All those called up by Suarez, a Colombian, play for local teams Arlin Ayovi for Olmedo, Pedro Quinonez for El Nacional, and Marlon Ayovi for Unversidad Catolica. The three replace Giovanny Espinoza and Patricio Urrutia, who play for Ecuador's Liga Deportiva Universitaria de Quito; and Edwin Tenorio, who plays for Ecuador's Barcelona. All three were involved in a fight in a local cup final game, and were suspended by the local governing body, the Ecuadorian Football Federation. Urrutia, known as pato (the duck), received a four-month suspension; while Tenorio is suspended for three months; and Espinosa, known as sombra (the shadow), is suspended for 60 days. Ecuador, known as the tricolor, will travel to the Spanish town of La Coruna on Dec. 25, for a Dec. 28 game against the Galicia regional team; it will play the Murcia squad on Dec. 30 in the same city.
