India has changed its military brass by appointing Lieutenant General Deepak Kapoor as the new Vice Chief of Army Staff of India, according to New Delhi TV Sunday evening.
Kapoor, now the Northern Army Commander of India, is to succeed Lieutenant General S.Pattabhiraman who is to retire at the end of this year.
Meanwhile, Lieutenant General H.C. Panag, currently General Officer Command 21 Core, has been made the new Northern Army Commander while Lieutenant General K.S. Jamwal, Army training Commander of General Officer Command, has become the Eastern Army Commander.
In addition, Lieutenant General M.L. Naidu, Commandant of Army War College, has become new head of General Officer Command GOC-in- C of Army Training Command at Shimla. He has commanded Leh-based 14 Core and once worked as Indian military attache in Germany.
