Schwarzenegger breaks leg in skiing accident
font size

The governor of the U.S. state of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger, broke his right leg when he was skiing with his family for Christmas fun in Sun Valley, Idaho, a spokesman said late Saturday.

According to Adam Mendelsohn of the governor's office, Schwarzenegger is recuperating at his Sun Valley home after he was taken to a local hospital for X-rays and was soon discharged on Saturday morning.

The governor is to have surgery to repair his thighbone when he returns to Los Angeles, Medelsohn said, adding that no one else was involved in the skiing accident.

The Hollywood action star-turned governor needed 15 stitches to close a split lip he got in January while riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle near his Los Angeles home. His 12-year-old son Patrick was riding in a sidecar but was not injured in the road accident.
