Former Russia manager Anatoly Byshovets has been named coach of Lokomotiv Moscow, the Russian premier league club said on Tuesday.
Byshovets, 60, replacing Oleg Dolmatov, became the third Lokomotiv coach in the last three months.
Dolmatov took over Lokomotiv Moscow from Serbian Slavoljub Muslin in October when Lokomotiv was in second place, then he was fired following a disappointing end in the season, losing three of their last seven games, dropping to third and failing to qualify for next year's Champions League.
Byshovets has been out of coaching since 1998 when he was sacked following Russia's disastrous start to their Euro 2000 qualifying campaign when they lost their first three qualifiers.
The former Soviet striker briefly worked as football director for Scottish Premier League club Hearts last year.
Byshovets led the Soviet Union to the gold medal at the 1988 Seoul Olympics, and also coached Russia in 1991-92, guiding them to the Euro 1992 finals. He also coached South Korea, becoming that country's first foreign manager, in the mid-1990s.
