Troops of Somali Islamic courts have abandoned the Somali capital of Mogadishu, reports said.

A leader of the Islamic courts was quoted as saying that their forces have withdrawn from Mogadishu.

Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi said on Sunday evening the country's troops were forced into a war against Somalia's Union of Islamic Courts.
