An Amman-based Iraqi anti-government group said here Sunday that it named Ezzah Ibrahim al-Duri as Iraq 's "legitimate" president and general commander of the army.
In a statement, the self-styled Iraqi group, the Alliance of the People of Baghdad, said it swears allegiance to Duri as field commander of the Iraqi resistance.
The statement came one day after the Iraqi government on Saturday dawn executed by hanging former president Saddam Hussein for crimes against humanity.
Vowing to follow Saddam's path, the group congratulated the Iraqi people for the "martyrdom" of their "hero president" Saddam and "the father of martyrs".
It wished "president Duri" success in leading Iraq's struggle for liberation from occupation.
