Thailand's former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra on Tuesday cried foul over the conclusion of the government that people who lost political benefits were behind the Bangkok bomb attacks through the new year eve, local media reported.
In his letter faxed from abroad, Thaksin blamed the government jumped into the conclusion without making any arrest, Thai news group The Nation said on its website.
After a series of bomb attacks in Bangkok through the eve of 2007, Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont on Monday hinted "the people who lost political benefits" rather than the Muslim insurgency are behind the bombings, causing the camp of former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra to protest immediately.
But Thaksin said the government could reach such conclusion less in 24 hours, compared with many bomb attacks in the deep South, which the government so far failed to make any arrest, said the report.
He also criticized the government distorted the information to mislead the people and play politics with the terrifying events.
Earlier, a spokesman of the Thai Rak Thai Party which is founded by Thaksin also called on Surayud to spell out names of those the premier believes were behind the string of Bangkok bomb attacks on New Year Eve.
