Ethiopian troops to withdraw from Somalia within weeks: PM
font size

Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi on Tuesday said that the country would withdraw its troops in Somalia within weeks.

He told the parliament that it would be too costly to keep the troops in Somalia while calling on the international community to provide funding and send in peacekeepers to Somalia quickly.

But he also said that leaving Somalia immediately would be irresponsible, saying his troops would stay for a few weeks before withdrawal.
