Ojo Adelusi, chairman of the Nigeria Kungfu Federation (NKF) on Wednesday blamed the absence of Kungfu in the Africa Games to be hosted by Algeria and also took a swipe on the inability of the continental confederation to convince the organizers to include the sport.
"The efforts of Africa Wushu-Kungfu Federation were not enough to see the game through into the 9th All Africa Games," Adelusi told reporters in the Nigerian commercial capital Lagos.
He, however, added that "the battle is still on to see if we can be given an opportunity to feature on a demonstration basis."
He noted that it was sad that the sport would not be in the games but would feature at the 2008 Olympics either as demonstration or as a scoring event.
"The Chinese, hosts of 2008 Olympics, are strong in the game and have been working with the International Olympic Committee to include the game," he said.
The chairman was confident that there was no stopping the game from featuring in next Olympics, even if it could not be allowed into the forthcoming Africa Games in the Algerian capital Algiers.
