Bomb threat made against Thai media

Bangkok-based English-language newspaper The Nation said on its website that a bomb threat was made over the phone against the media group Wednesday afternoon.

The report said an unidentified caller told a receptionist of The Nation at 1:18 p.m. (0618GMT) that he had planted three bombs inside media group's compound to explode in three hours,

Soldiers and police are checking whether there are bombs planted in the compound.

"I don't want to hurt people. I only want to inflict damages to property, and evacuate all people. I did this because I was dissatisfied that The Nation Group published reports damaging to Thaksin without verifying information whether Thaksin was behind the bomb attacks." the caller was quoted by The Nation report as saying.

Meanwhile, police are checking bomb threats in Bangkok and nearby province of Nontaburi Wednesday, sources told Xinhua.

The bomb threats made on Wednesday targeted four or five sites across Bangkok and Nonthaburi, where eight explosions took place on New Year's Eve and around midnight last Sunday, the sources said.

Teachers and students of a school on Phetchaburi Road in Bangkok were evacuated at noon after a bomb threat was made against the school.
