Israeli PM to visit China

Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert will pay an official visit to China from Jan. 9 to 11, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao announced in Beijing Thursday.

During his visit, Liu said, the two sides will hold in-depth discussions on the Middle East issue.

"We believe that the discussion is conducive to the peace process of the Middle East, and China will continue to play constructive role in resolving the Middle East issue," Liu said.

Liu also said that a concert will be held to mark to 15th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Israel during Olmert's visit in China.
