font size

Thai health ministry ordered on Friday all hospitals and medical staff across Thailand to be ready around the clock for any possible incidents which might disturb public order following the New Year Eve Bangkok bombings.

Public Health Minister Mongkol Na Songkhla met senior officials on Friday to assign officials to be ready to respond to unexpected incidents when the political situation is still not stable, according to the Thai News Agency.

The bombings killed three persons and injured nearly 40 persons on New Year's Eve.

Mongkol was quoted as saying that Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont had warned all sides to be ready to face any unexpected events.

"The situation has changed rapidly and we need to prepare medical staff and equipment 24 hours in case of emergency from now to the end of this year," the minister said.

According to the Narenthorn Center, an emergency medical services center, 16 injured victims of the coordinated bombings on the New Year Eve in Bangkok are still in hospital.

All of the injured, including two foreigners, are in stable condition.
