Vietnam, Thailand agree to foster army cooperationLeaders of the People's Army of Vietnam and the Royal Armed Forces of Thailand have agreed to strengthen friendly and cooperative ties between the two militaries in various fields, including training and sea patrols. The supreme commander of the Thai Royal Armed Forces, Gen. Boonsrang Niumpradit, and the chief of General Staff of the People's Army of Vietnam, Lieut. Gen. Nguyen Khac Nghien, agreed at their meeting in Hanoi capital on Thursday to beef up the cooperation in training, sea patrols, search and rescue of fishermen, sports competition and other issues of common concern, the Vietnam News Agency reported. The two generals also briefed each other about the social, economic, national defense and security situation of their respective countries. On Thursday, Boonsrang, who is paying an official visit to Vietnam at the invitation of Nghien, paid a courtesy visit to Sen. Lieut. Gen. Phung Quang Thanh, Defense Minister of Vietnam.
