Car bomb kills two people in Baghdad

A car bomb went off in southern Baghdad on Saturday, killing two civilians and wounding four others, an Interior Ministry source told Xinhua.

"An explosive-laden car parking near a gas station in Dora neighborhood in southern Baghdad detonated around midday, killing at least two people and wounding four others," the source said on condition of anonymity.

Hours earlier, a car bomb targeting the chief of Baghdad police exploded, killing one civilian and wounding three people,

including two policemen, an Interior Ministry source said.

"Major General Ali al-Yassery, chief of Baghdad police, survived unhurt when a car bomb parking near a fuel station in the al-Nidhal Street detonated," the source said.

Also on Saturday, a roadside bomb went off near a police patrol in the Sina'a Street in eastern Baghdad, damaging a police vehicle and wounding a policeman and a civilian, the source added.
