Peruvian AFP photographer Jaime Razuri, who was kidnapped last week by a group of Palestinian gunmen, was released unharmed in Gaza City on Sunday evening, Palestinian security sources said.

Razuri has arrived at the office of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in the west of Gaza City, said the sources, adding that he was in good health.

Razuri himself also claimed that he was treated well in his duress.

However, the identity of the captors remains unclear amid conflicting reports about them.

Some sources with security forces said that a big clan called Doghmosh family opposing the ruling Islamic Resistance Movement ( Hamas) was behind the kidnapping, while Tayeb Abdel Rahim, an aide to Abbas said that it's Doghmosh family helped the release of the journalist.

"Faithful members of Doghmosh family have helped the security services to secure the release of the journalist," Rahim told reporters.

Doghmosh clan had two of its members killed by Hamas in recent factional infighting that overwhelmed Gaza Strip.

Just on Saturday, a video tape released in the West Bank showed that masked gunmen held hostage a local deputy mayor, who is affiliated to the ruling Hamas movement, and threatened to kill him if Hamas dares to attack their family again.

Razuri, who spent a week as a captive, was abducted last week while he was in front of the AFP office in Gaza. .
