China's shipbuilding reaches 14 mln DWT in 2006

China's shipbuilding output reached 14 million deadweight tonnage in 2006, ranking 3rd in the world for the 12th consecutive year and steadily closing the gap with the Republic of Korea and Japan, according to sources at a Commission of Science Technology and Industry for National Defence meeting held here Monday.
