Oil and natural gas production in Russia grew over 2 percent in 2006, the Interfax news agency reported on Tuesday citing government figures.

Oil output totaled 480 million tons last year, up 2.2 percent from the previous year, according to data released by the Fuel and Energy Complex's central dispatch department.

Gas production stood at 656 billion cubic meters in 2006, up 2. 4 percent from the previous year.
