A car bomb went off near a fuel station in a town south of Baghdad on Wednesday, killing a civilian and destroying the station, an Interior Ministry source said.

"A car parked near a fuel station in Mahmoudiyah town, 30 km south of Baghdad, detonated in the morning, killing a civilian and totally charring the station," the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

The blast also wounded three people, the source added.

Violence rages in Iraq as sectarian killings, car bombings, roadside bombs cause dozens of Iraqi casualties daily.
