Bush discusses Iraq plan with leaders of allies
font size

U.S. President George W. Bush on Wednesday discussed his new Iraq plan with leaders of Japan, Poland, South Korea and Iraq, the White House said.

Bush talked with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, South Korean President Roh Moo-Hyun, Polish President Lech Kaczynski and Iraqi President Jalal Talabani on the outcome of the recently completed Iraq strategy review, said national security spokesman Gordon Johndroe.

Bush also discussed the Iraq plan, due to be announced in his speech at 9:00 pm (0200 GMT Thursday), with Iraq's most senior Sunni leader, Vice President Tareq al-Hashimi, and powerful Iraqi Shiite politician Abdel Aziz al-Hakim.

Japan, South Korea and Poland, all allies of the United States, have combat forces serving in Iraq since 2003.
