Number of overseas tourists hits 124 million

The Chinese National Tourism Administration has reported continuous and rapid growth of the number of travelers coming to China in 2006.

Approximately 124 million overseas tourists entered China, with approximately 49.6 million staying overnight. Foreign exchange earnings from tourism reached US33.5 billion.

According to statistics from the World Tourism Organization, China is the fourth most popular travel destination in the world, with revenue from foreign exchange the sixth highest in the world.
