The last meeting of Nepal's House of Representatives (HoR) approved the interim constitution provisionally Monday afternoon, local leading media group's website The Himalayan Times online reported.
"The proposed interim constitution has been unanimously approved after no 'nays' were heard during voice voting," said Subash Nembang, speaker of the HoR.
Speaker Nembang added that the MPs are now discussing interim constitution's clauses.
The new interim parliament, with 83 members from or nominated by the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) (formerly known as guerrilla) , is due to meet for the first time later Monday.
Earlier on Monday morning, members of the HoR began discussions on the interim constitution due to be promulgated by the House later in the day.
The last session of the HoR began at Singhdurbar at around 9:00 am Monday morning. The HoR will be dissolved, after promulgating the interim constitution and a new interim legislature including CPN will be formed. The interim constitution promulgated by the HoR will be ratified by the interim legislature.
