Four Iraqi soldiers killed in suicide car bomb in Baghdad
font size

A suicide car bomb attack hit an Iraqi army checkpoint in western Baghdad on Monday, killing four soldiers and wounding three others, an Interior ministry source said.

"A suicide car bomber drove his explosive-laden car into an army checkpoint in the Jami'a neighborhood in the after noon," the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

Earlier, three policemen were killed and two others injured when their vehicle hit a roadside bomb in the al-Rustimiya neighborhood in southeastern Baghdad.

Insurgents frequently attack Iraqi security forces and violence rages in the country as sectarian killings, car bombings and roadside bombs cause dozens of Iraqi casualties daily.
