July 21 bombing suspects go on trial

The six men accused of planning bomb attacks in London on July 21, 2005, went on trial on Monday.

They are charged with conspiracy to murder and conspiracy to cause explosions likely to endanger life, Sky news reported.

The attack on the London transport network would have been devastating if successfully carried out on July 21.

However, the six defendants aged between 24 to 33 deny all the charges.

The trial in an east London court is expected to last up to four months.

The presiding judge had told the jury that the case involves allegations of involvement by the defendants in terrorism and it concerns events which followed the July 7 London bombings in 2005 which killed 52 and injured hundreds.
