Nepali interim parliament ratifies interim constitution
font size

First sitting of the Nepali interim parliament ratified the interim constitution on Monday.

The Interim Constitution 2063 was ratified in the first sitting of the newly established interim parliament. This made the interim constitution formally come into effect in Nepal.

But Monday's first meeting failed to appoint Speaker of interim parliament as anticipated.

A special meeting of Nepali Council of Ministers held in Kathmandu on Sunday morning ratified the interim constitution. The Nepali Council of Ministers sent the interim constitution to the House of Representatives on the same day.

The interim legislature was set up on Monday evening after the promulgation of constitution by the former House of Representatives, which was dissolved shortly after its unanimously approvement of the interim constitution.
