The International Monetary Fund (IMF) announced on Wednesday that its Managing Director Rodrigo de Rato will travel to Japan, Indonesia and China next week.

Rato will be in Tokyo on Sunday and Monday to deliver a speech and attend a symposium co-sponsored by the Bank of Japan and the Center for Monetary Cooperation in Asia, said the IMF in a statement, adding that he will also hold talks with the Japanese government's economic team.

It also said Rato will visit Jakarta next Tuesday and Wednesday, where he will meet Indonesian officials, business leaders and private-sector and academic experts.

Next Thursday and Friday Rato will hold a series of high-level meetings in Beijing with the authorities, according to the statement.
