Jordanian FM urges dialogue to resolve Lebanon crisis
font size

Jordanian Prime Minister Marouf Bakhit called Thursday for dialogue amongst Lebanese during his meeting with visiting Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Siniora, reported Jordan's news agency Petra.

Bakhit said that dialogue among all segments of the Lebanese people was the only way to solve disputes, adding that the crisis in Lebanon cannot be solved by violence or demonstrations but only through dialogue.

Bakhit reiterated Jordan's supportive position towards Lebanon, saying that Jordan would spare every effort to support Lebanon with Jordan's King Abdullah II had made contacts with Arab leaders to come up with a unified stance on Lebanon.

Bakhit was quoted as saying that the region's crises, including crises in Lebanon and Iraq, as well as in the Palestinian territories resulted from the absence of justice, comprehensive and everlasting peace in these countries.

On his part, Siniora expressed thanks and appreciation for Jordan's support to Lebanon, particularly during the Israel- Hezbollah conflict last summer.

Siniora is currently on a visit to Jordan to rally support for the "Paris 3 conference" which is expected to be held on Jan. 25 to discuss means of providing political and economic support to Lebanon.
