Jordan's King Abdullah II on Thursday called for Iraqis to preserve Iraq's unity by discarding all sectarian conflicts, reported Jordan's news agency Petra.
Abdullah made the remarks during a meeting here with visiting Iraqi Vice President Tariq Hashimi.
The king noted that the security situation in Iraq requires Iraqis put aside their differences and move forward on the way to restore security and stability and to build a better future for the Iraqi people.
Abdullah stressed that all the components of Iraq, Sunnis, Shiites and Kurds, must participate in the decision-making process in their country to preserve the unity of Iraq and to "keep Iraq out of chaos and foreign greed," said the report.
Moreover, he reaffirmed Jordan's support for the national reconciliation efforts in Iraq.
Hashimi briefed Jordanian King on the latest developments in Iraq in addition to his tour in the United States and Britain, and his meeting with U.S. President George W. Bush and British Prime Minister Tony Blair to discuss the situation in Iraq.
