Turkish Red Crescent sends aid to earthquake zone in eastern Turkey
font size

Turkish Red Crescent said here on Sunday that it had sent assistance aid to the earthquake zone in Tutak town of eastern Agri province in eastern Turkey.

Blankets, tents, gas heaters and foodstuffs were immediately transported to several villages which were mostly affected by the moderate earthquake on Sunday, said Turkish Red Crescent.

The organization said that donations are accepted for those affected by the earthquake.

On the other hand, another aid organization, Lighthouse Association has sent aid to Tutak, including food sets, blankets, diapers and cleaning agents.

An earthquake, measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale, hit Tutak town on Sunday morning, but no casualties were reported.

Earthquakes are frequent in Turkey. In August and November 1999, two violent temblors occurred in the heavily populated northwest of the country.
