Syrian President Bashar al-Assad met Tuesday with his visiting Pakistani counterpart Pervez Musharraf on bilateral relations and regional situation, the official SANA news agency reported.
The two leaders exchanged views on the Afghani issue, the Kashmir issue, and the latest developments in the Middle East, particularly in the Palestinian territories, Lebanon and Iraq, SANA said.
On Iraq, both sides underlined the importance to guarantee security, stability, and territorial integrity in the war-torn country as well as to support the ongoing political process in it.
They also called for national unity among the Palestinians during the current delicate conditions in order to achieve their national legitimate demands.
The two presidents reviewed both countries' efforts in combating terrorism, agreeing to continue consultations and coordination towards issues of mutual concern.
They called for a just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East, expressing readiness to exert more efforts to achieve security and stability in the region, SANA said.
Musharraf, who arrived here earlier in the day on a working visit, is currently on a Middle East tour which has taken him to Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan and will also take him to the United Arab Emirates.
