font size

The Chinese government will continue to support the Hong Kong government in maintaining long-term prosperity and stability of the region, said senior official Jia Qinglin Wednesday.

The Hong Kong people had continued to enjoy economic growth and improved living standards under the leadership of the chief executive and the government of HK Special Administrative Region, Jia said in a meeting with a delegation from the HK-based Chinese General Chamber of Commerce (CGCC).

The CGCC was the biggest and oldest patriotic Chinese business group in Hong Kong, and had made a significant contribution to national development and the return of Hong Kong to the mainland, he said.

Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), hoped the CGCC would continue to advocate patriotism and strive to build a prosperous and harmonious Hong Kong.
