A moderate earthquake measuring 5. 2 on the Richter scale rocked easternmost Indonesia on Thursday, with no casualty or damages reported, the Meteorology and Geophysics Agency said.
The quake struck at 13:20 local time with an epicenter on land near Nabire of Papua province and 33 kilometers under the earth, an official of the agency said.
Indonesia lies on a vulnerable quake-hit zone called "the Pacific Rim of Fire," where continental plates meet causing frequent seismic and volcanic activities.
