UN to grant millions of dollars to Uruguay for developmentThe United Nations will provide Uruguay with 73 million U.S. dollars through two of its cooperation agencies during the 2007-2010 period, said an agreement signed on Friday by both sides. The money will cover programs concerning population, gender, reproductive health, environmental development, fight against poverty, unequality, knowledge promotion, production diversification. Pablo Mandeville, Uruguayan representative to the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the United Nations Population Fund (UNPF), and Carlos Viera, head of the UN Planning and Budget Office, signed the agreement.
